EDM superstar Avicii, known for providing the memorable beat to hits like “Hey Brother” and “Wake Me Up,” will not be completing his tour.
Reps for the artist have reported that the DJ is experiencing health issues since having his gallbladder and appendix removed several months ago, and that he needs some time off to recover.
Avicii’s global fanbase has been wishing him well on Twitter, including a “Get well soon” from MTV News and a “Hope you feel better soon!” from Vevo. If nothing else, the star can be sure that his fans will be ready for him when he recuperates. He’s currently taking some time away in his hometown of Stockholm, Sweden to get well.
The good news? We can still expect a second album from Avicii when he returns in 2015. His debut album, 2013’s True, has sold over 300,000 copies, the most for any album by a DJ released that year.
The DJ/producer isn’t alone: other big name stars like Lady Gaga and Britney Spears have had to cut tours short for their health in the past.
