Well, they aren’t so much in opposition to Trump as they are in opposition to the negative attention. The B-Street Band was scheduled to play at the inauguration, but they pulled out. According to Will Forte, the B-Street Band’s keyboardist and manager, the pressure was too much.
The B-Street Band started receiving backlash from both sides of the political spectrum. Forte told the band, “We’re standing out in the storm right here. We gotta get out of the storm.”
They ended up canceling purely to remove themselves from the media uproar.
“We had to make it known that we didn’t want to seem disrespectful, in any way, shape or form, to Bruce and his music and his band. I don’t want to upset them,” Forte said.
He added that the decision was also about honoring Springsteen, not just avoiding upsetting him. “We owe everything to him and our gratitude and respect to the band is imperative above all else,” Forte stated. “It became clear to us that this wasn’t working and we just had to do what we thought was the right thing to do, and that was to pull out.”
