Halsey just released a new album called hopeless fountain kingdom. Oddly enough, Halsey–who is bisexual–included Migos on the album. This caused some raised eyebrows because Migos member Quavo had recently spewed some homophobic comments.
An interviewer from the Guardian asked Halsey about her logic behind this decision. What he got was a big old Iggy Azalea burn.
“I think [Quavo]’s misunderstood. Just because I choose to be a socially conscious artist, and I’m pretty good at it, that doesn’t mean every artist is going to be equipped to be politically correct,” she began. “I don’t think he’s inherently homophobic, I think he’s in a tough place of trying to explain what he means. I agree his apology was bullsh-t, but I can’t police everybody.”
On the other hand, Iggy Azalea’s career is just flat out unforgivable.
“There’s a lot of people I wouldn’t put on my record,” Halsey continued. “Iggy Azalea: absolutely not. She had a complete disregard for black culture. F-cking moron. I watched her career dissolve and it fascinated me.”
Well, okay then. Sure, Iggy Azalea made a ton of mistakes. We’re not saying we like her. But this comment seemed kind of out of the blue and unnecessary. Maybe Halsey’s been browsing social media too much lately and has seen all the drama going on between Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks, so it was fresh in her mind.
