Double the Swift: Taylor Swift’s Brother Austin to Make Film Debut

There are plenty of famous siblings out there. Zooey and Emily Deschanel, Patricia and David Arquette and Luke and Owen Wilson are just a few. Now, it looks like Taylor Swift‘s brother is attempting to follow in her famous footsteps.

Rather than trying to break into the same field as Swift by recording a country-pop album about all the women by whom he’s been dumped, Austin Swift is working on an acting career. The 24-year-old will be making his film debut in the film I.T.

I.T. will star Pierce Brosnan in the leading role of Mike Regan. The movie showcases a business relationship taking a turn for the worse, causing Regan’s family to get aggressively attacked. The movie is scheduled to premiere in September.

Check out the trailer here:

According to People, Austin Swift is visible around the 1:30 mark of the trailer.

Taylor hasn’t commented since the trailer came out, but when he first wrapped on the project, she posted an Instagram tribute, as pop stars do.

My brother @austinkingsleyswift just acted in his first movie and I’m all proud and stuff.

For film fans worried that Austin is only getting roles because of his famous sister, there’s at least some evidence that he knows what he’s doing. In 2015, he graduated from Notre Dame University, and he reportedly worked on some student theater projects there. Better than nothing, right?

Hopefully his acting chops wind up being better than his sister’s. We normally try to block it out of our memories, but Taylor has also made some television and film appearances. Her IMDb page boasts 23 acting credits, but most of them come from her self-titled music videos.

However, she has appeared in movies like The Giver and Valentine’s Day as well as television programs like New Girl. To put it kindly, none of her performances have been very positively received by critics.
