The Grammys dropped a new promo video this week that features young girls saying inspirational things about music. If it sounds familiar, it’s because the speech was the same one Taylor Swift gave last year. Swift herself steps in to say the last line of the promo.
Swift’s speech was often taken as a jab at Kanye thanks to the line, “There are going to be people along the way who try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame.” People saw it as a slap at Kanye’s lyric, “I made that b—- famous,” which was, of course, directed at Swift.
So did the Grammys pick Taylor Swift’s speech as an intentional blowback against Kanye for boycotting this year’s ceremony? Who knows, but it would be pretty funny if that were the case.
