Turns out, when Kanye made the announcement last year that he’d be running for president in 2020, he wasn’t kidding either. At the very least, he’s not ready to let the subject drop quite yet.
In a recent interview, he brought up the idea yet again, and had some surprisingly valid points to boot.
“We are numb. We’re numb to 500 kids getting killed in Chicago a year, we’re numb to the fact that it was seven police shootings in the beginning of July,” the rapper said. “We’re numb to places on the Earth that we don’t live. Like, our life is okay, but it’s okay for other people’s lives to not be okay.”
Mr. West went on to explain that he’s not about picking a side or being right wing or left wing. Rather, he takes a broader view on people as a whole.
“When I talk about the idea of being president, I’m not saying I have any political views,” he said. “I don’t have views on politics. I just have a view on humanity, on people, on the truth. If there is anything that I can do with my time and my day to somehow make a difference while I’m alive, I’m going to try to do it.”
Okay, so Kanye West may stick his foot in his mouth from time to time, but is he suddenly starting to make some sense? Maybe it’s just the crazy election season that has us considering more out of the box ideas. We’ll have to wait until 2020’s election season to see how this unfolds.
