Talk about exciting! But wait–why did Katy Perry use a blonde emoji? Everyone knows she’s got dark hair!
Actually, not anymore. Just a couple hours after retweeting the post about the Grammys, the “California Girls” singer uploaded a new pic on Instagram. The photo shows off her new blonde locks. Judging by her caption, even she hardly recognizes herself in the mirror.

Perry is currently working on her fifth studio album, so it’s the perfect time for her to step back into the spotlight and try out a new look. Considering how many artists are also claiming to boycott the Grammys, they could definitely use some good talent.

Apparently, she might even be debuting a new track at the Grammys. Billboard initially wrote that she’d be revealing her first single, “Chained to the Rhythm,” from the new album. The song supposedly features Skip Marley. However, Billboard has since removed the post. We’ll have to wait until the Grammys air on Sunday, February 12, to know for certain.
Perry hasn’t released any new albums since Prism came out in 2013. Before that was her hit Teenage Dream in 2010. In other words, we’re ready and raring to go for some new Katy Perry tunes.
