When we first heard that David Bowie‘s ashes were scattered at Burning Man earlier this month, we were a little put out. As cool as the festival is for a very specific crowd, it seemed too niche for the rock legend.
However, Bowie’s 45-year-old son Duncan Jones put our thoughts at ease by debunking the rumors. Here’s what Jones wrote on Twitter:
“That Burning Man thing? What people will do & say for attention never ceases to amaze me. Not true.” He then added a photo of the seaside resort Skegness with the caption, “…We all know if dad DID want his ashes scattered in front of strangers, it would be at the Skegness Butlins. ;)”
Originally, a source had told E! News the mistaken information, saying, “David’s godchild and David had long talks about Burning Man and what it stands for, and David loved the message behind it.”
