The Los Angeles County coroner’s office said that his death is being investigated as a possible suicide by hanging. Law enforcement responded to a call in Palos Verdes Estates just after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning. Evidently, his housekeeper had discovered his body.
Many are wondering if Chester Bennington’s death has anything to do with his sadness over losing his friend Chris Cornell earlier this year. Cornell committed suicide back in May, and the two were close friends. In fact, Thursday was what would have been Cornell’s 53rd birthday.

Linkin Park originally formed in 1996. However, Chester Bennington actually came on later as a replacement for the original vocalist, Mark Wakefield. Bennington’s debut album with Linkin Park, Hybrid Theory, was such a success that it went certified Diamond. In fact, it was the best-selling debut album of the decade.
Despite the group’s success, Bennington himself struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. Many of his songs were inspired by the problems he had faced.
Fans around the world are mourning the loss of the artist:

Depression is hard to understand. But if it can kill Robin Williams, Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington I’d say it’s pretty damn real.
