If you’re just finally discovering Taylor Swift, or if you’ve been living under a rock, here’s a little primer for the newly inducted. “Shake It Off” was recorded for Taylor’s fifth studio album, 1989 (2014). The song was written by Swift, Max Martin and Shellback.
Max Martin is a famous Swedish songwriter who penned some of the THE biggest hits of the 90s working with the likes of Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and N’ Synch (he wrote “Baby One More Time” for Britney).
Shellback is a Swedish producer, and frequent Max Martin collaborator, and previously worked with Swift on “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”
“Shake It Off” sixth track on the album 1989 (after “All You Had To Do Was Stay”) and the lead single from the Album. “Shake It Off” premiered on Yahoo live stream on 8/18/14 and was made for digital download later that same day.
“Shake It Off” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 three weeks later and became Swift’s second number one single and the 22nd song to debut at number one in the chart’s history.
