The British actor just missed out on an Armani underwear campaign thanks to his new girlfriend. Who can forget that her former boyfriend Calvin Harris was king of the campaign not that long ago?
Evidently the fashion label thought it would be too weird to have one of Swift’s boyfriends following the other as their leading man, so opted to cut Hiddleston from the ranks.
“Tom was on the shortlist as they examined who could take over from Calvin,” a source said. “Obviously with Tom now being Taylor’s other half and the Calvin past deal, it would generate huge media coverage and headlines.”
But media coverage isn’t the only thing Armani is after. They need to think about their brand image as a whole when they select the new gent.
“Armani would hate to be seen as getting PR for their brand by riding on Taylor Swift’s coat tails, so Tom will not get the job,” the source added.
Evidently, the Avengers villain may not have been their first choice anyway. The demographic Armani is targeting is a bit below his age range.
“While Tom is without doubt one of the sexiest actors of his generation, he may not be the right fit at this time,” said the source. “The brand is looking at attracting 30-somethings and under, so Tom may be a little too old.”
No sugarcoating anything with Armani. Hopefully Tom Hiddleston doesn’t lose out on any other opportunities thanks to Taylor Swift’s considerable list of ex-boyfriends.
